      The Zambezi River is one of the main rivers in southern Africa and the longest African river flowing into the Indian Ocean. Location. Chipata is located approximately kilometres ( mi), east of Lusaka, the capital city of Zambia. This is about kilometres (93 mi) west of Lilongwe, the capital city of Malawi.
